The sketch begins with the skeletal structure, gradually adding muscle and the human form then takes on a female shape which finally ends up fully clothed. You can adjust the speed of the drawing by clicking the x1, x2, x4, x8 or x16 buttons at the bottom of the screen.

Simply fascinating and if you have never seen a drawing done from start to finish, this will show you one technique.

First it was dust, then sand, and now chalk as an artistic medium! If you have spent time in any major city around the world, you have probably encountered the artists drawing magnificent images using coloured chalk on the pavement or footpath. I have come across a few in Melbourne in my time, some with outstanding talent and others simply OK. Unfortunately I have not come across such brilliant illusions.

I am amazed by the pavement drawing creations of Julian Beever. After having a look at his website, the drawings are referred to as Anamorphic Illusions which are “drawn in a special distortion in order to create an impression of 3 dimensions when seen from one particular viewpoint.”

As you look at each piece, you can see how cleverly constructed the perspective is which is an art in itself, before you even begin to admire the actual drawing. It is very hard to believe that all these drawings are flat on the pavement as the illusion of depth has been so well created.
